With the closure of the last Saarland pit, the mine site Saar, the coal mining practiced for decades was stopped in 2012. In order to preserve the mining tradition in the Saarland region, the landmark “Das Saarpolygon” was erected. Serviced and maintained by the supporting association, the Förderverein “BergbauErbeSaar e.V.”.
The Helmut Müller GmbH accompanied and supported the Berlin architectural duo “pfeiffer sachse” (founded by Katja Pfeiffer and Oliver Sachse in 2011) and the association BergbauErbeSaar e.V. at the planning and implementation stage in the field of corrosion protection.
